Fawkner

Fawkner is the northernmost suburb in the City of Moreland, and has a population of about 12,000 people. This small suburb has a quiet charm as most houses in the area were built in the 1950s to 1970s after the Ford Factory was established in Campbellfield.

Fawkner is served by Gowrie and Fawkner railway stations on the Upfield line. Both the Hume Highway and the Western Ring Road provide easy access to other areas of Melbourne and bus routes run through its centre.

Known for its great parks and open spaces, Fawkner contains the Charles Mutton Reserve and CB Smith Reserve, and runs alongside Merri Creek. Bonwick Street is a hidden jewel, locally famed for its excellent Italian cuisine, lively cafes and local businesses. The annual Fawkner Festival celebrates its residents’ vibrant cultural backgrounds and interests and is a popular past time for locals.
