Avondale Heights

Avondale Heights was previously known as Maribyrnong West and has a population of less than 12,000 people. Its location as an established residential area just 10 km from Melbourne’s CBD means convenient access to the city as well as other suburbs throughout Melbourne. The main commercial area is focused along Military Road.

Avondale Heights is bounded by Steele Creek in the north-east and the Maribyrnong River in the east, south and west. The northern area of Avondale Heights features the Walter Burley Griffin designed Milleara estate which has large areas of open space. Other features of the area include Avondale Heights Reserve, Canning Reserve, Grimes Flat, Tea Gardens Reserve, Thompson Street Reserve, Milleara Mall and a number of schools.
